My Big Goal 

I’d like to be more useful to my team. I’ve learned a lot, but I’m still gaining experience as a Senior. Taking on the responsibility for other people’s work and managing a team has been a challenge.

Everyone works differently, so I’ve been honing my communication skills and working to train my team. I like sharing what I’ve learned, so it’s been fulfilling. My ultimate goal is to be valuable to my teammates and support them to be effective, efficient, and feel good about their work.

My Big Lesson

Trust each other. I have to trust my team and their abilities. I trust them to work to the best of their ability, and if they fall short, it’s a matter of training to improve our results over time. 

My Favorite Memory

We have recurring team buildings where we share aspects of our personal lives. I appreciate those meetings and the updates on our Pod’s pets. Almost everyone on the team has a pet, so I enjoy the videos and pics. 

My Big Surprise

I was nervous when I first took on this role. I didn’t have previous experience managing a team, but it’s all worked out well, and I’ve grown to be effective in the role. It surprised me how capable I was—I started studying for a Master’s degree right before my promotion, so I was concerned I wouldn’t have enough time or bandwidth. Still, I’ve been able to devote myself and perform well in both positions. 

What I’m Proud Of

I'm completing my Master’s degree in Accounting and advancing my career, which has been satisfying. I’ve been learning a lot, keeping up quality results at work, and even keeping busy playing sports while studying and working, so I’m proud of all I’ve accomplished and how I’ve sacrificed to do it well.

The Fun Stuff

What was your childhood ambition?

I have always loved animals —I have two cats and a dog— so I wanted to either work in that field or live around a lot of animals. Working from home allows me to spend more time with them—taking breaks to kiss them and rub their bellies. I wouldn’t have that freedom at other jobs. 

If you could work remotely from absolutely anywhere, where would it be? 

A friend recently traveled to Japan and stayed for about three months. Her photos and stories made me want to visit. 

What is your favorite type of taco? 

Al Pastor.

What’s inspired you recently? 

Recently, an academic paper I read at school applied to work. It was about stressful situations in the workplace. It helped me to be more empathetic, and I’ve applied that knowledge to even understand myself better!

If you could be any animal, which would you be, and why?

A cat. I see mine sleeping and playing all day, and I think I’d be very happy as a cat. They’re strong and independent but also affectionate.
