My Big Goal

I was lucky enough to get a promotion only seven months into starting with Proper, so I look forward to advancing to a General Accountant position. 

My Big Lesson 

Teamwork. Previously, I worked in a place where teamwork wasn’t as big as it is at Proper. When I started here, I didn’t expect that there’d be so many people available and willing to help each other with the work. 

My Favorite Memory

I don’t know that I’ll be able to choose just one moment, but my favorite things happen monthly during our team building meetings, when we get to joke and laugh and know each other more personally beyond the work we do every day.

My Big Surprise

I’m surprised by how much we actually matter. It’s not common at other companies, but the people I work with at Proper see me as a person—everyone has been kind, and that took me by surprise. 

What I’m Proud Of

I got my promotion only a few months into my job. I usually see more people getting promotions years into jobs, so I didn’t expect it so soon. 

The Fun Stuff

What was your childhood ambition?

I always wanted to help my parents financially, so I’m happy that I’ve been able to do that for a while now. 

If you could work remotely from absolutely anywhere, where would it be?

I don’t like to travel, so I’d probably stay comfortable in my own place or maybe my parent’s house. 

What is your favorite type of taco?

I don’t eat meat, so I don’t have a favorite taco — the meatless tacos don’t do it for me. 

What has inspired you recently?

I graduated from college a year ago, and I’ve been discussing how post-grad life has been with some friends. In comparison, I’m doing pretty well. I’m in a company I like, and work with great people, so it made me realize that I have something I should really cherish. 

If you could be any animal, which would you be, and why?

A domestic animal, something like a dog or cat— I don’t think I could survive in the wilderness. If I were a fish or something, I’d go for the first worm on a hook. 

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“...Baby One More Time” — Britney Spears

Tea or coffee? 

Tea — I can’t do coffee. 

What’s a movie everyone should see at least once?

The Goonies. It’s a classic with a great message about friendship and growing up. 

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

It’s a quote from A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff — “don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”
