My Big Goal

I want to keep growing personally in Proper, but I also want to build my team. My time at Proper has taught me that if one of us grows, we all grow, so growing my team is my goal. 

My Big Lesson

I dealt with many new challenges in this role. But most importantly, I’ve learned the value of other people and teamwork from those challenges. Proper’s culture and proactive approach to work-life balance help.  

My Favorite Memory

Many folks have said this, but the meeting last year in Mexico City. It was a lot of fun. I met in person with colleagues I’d only met virtually. I’m looking forward to the next one.

My Big Surprise

Last year it was the culture, and this year the answer is the same. The culture is even better. I’ve seen companies implement different approaches that fade  months later, so it surprised me that Proper’s culture is even more engaging. Maybe it’s because I come from firms that don’t have this kind of culture. I’m surprised the culture has been maintained.

What I'm Proud Of

My team. My Pod split because of growth this year, so I’ve been involved in three different teams. And none of that growth would be possible without the team. I’m proud of the work they’ve done and the work they’ll do. Many of them have been promoted and acquired new roles and responsibilities, which is probably what I’m most proud of.

The Fun Stuff

What was your childhood ambition?

I wanted to be an archeologist. I liked history, and I wanted to find artifacts in old buildings. 

If you could work remotely from absolutely anywhere, where would it be? 

I’d still like the opportunity to live the nomad lifestyle and work in different places. I’d like to change locations every month or two (depending on the wifi). 

What is your favorite type of taco? 

Al pastor and tripa. 

If you could be any animal, which would you be, and why? 

A dog—even a stray dog—always seems happy with even the smallest things, and they give comfort with a free spirit. 

What’s your go-to karaoke song? ‍

“Por Ti”— Belanova. The lead singer is a lady; I have the falsetto to hit those high notes.

Tea.

What’s the last book you read?

I’m not a big reader. The last book I read was one of the Harry Potter novels.
