My Big Goal 

My goal from the beginning has been the same: to contribute to Proper by improving its teams — everything from processes to teambuilding — and keep developing my Pod while advancing in the company — not just in my position but with the things I learn daily. 

My Big Lesson

The value of a good team and leader. When I started, my POD had a lot of challenges to overcome for our clients. 

I learned to start with the people. By being a good leader, listening carefully to everyone to understand their challenges, working toward solutions, then moving on to training allowed my team the safe space to learn and maintain positive results. 

My Favorite Memory 

When I started, my manager was Laura, who had a full plan to transfer all of her knowledge to me. With all of her planning and deadlines, I felt comfortable to take the reins weeks ahead of time, thank her for her help, and start building something with my team. 

Proper also had a Colombian get-together when I traveled to Barranquilla. I won’t say too much about what happened that night, but I got back from the workshop at 4:30 am the next morning.

My Big Surprise

The flexibility we’ve developed to adapt to changes. This is my first time working for a startup, and my first time having something new or different to take on every week or so. It’s been nice to open myself up to new things. 

What I’m Proud Of 

My team. It’s the first thing I love about my job at Proper. They’re the best team in the world. 

The Fun Stuff

What was your childhood ambition?

Every year, I wanted to be something different: a teacher, a supermarket cashier, a hairstylist…everything other than an accountant. 

If you could work remotely from absolutely anywhere, where would it be?

Maybe Barranquilla, Cartagena or Santa Marta — one of the coastal Colombian cities with better weather, but always Colombia — I’m very proud of my country. 

What is your favorite type of taco?

Al pastor. 

What has inspired you recently?

The goals I have in the short, medium, and long term. My goals are what I want to be in the future, even if the future is tomorrow. I always want to be better, which is a tricky metric because iti translates to my work, yes, but also my relationships with my family and my team. I always want to keep improving. 

If you could be any animal, which would you be, and why?

An eagle. They’re intelligent, and they fly.

Coffee.
